Literature Text

I woke in fright
In the middle
Of the night
From an old willow branch
Creaking against my window
A lone wolf cried its song of desolation,
Sending shivers of up my spine in trepidation

The wind scolded and groaned,
As though a ghoul had moaned
It yowled and shrieked,
Letting no other sound leak

Shadow monsters prowl,
So hideous and foul
Teeth flash in the darkness,
Like an angler in the deep abyss

But then I realized the
Wonders the night can bring
Like the night sky, black as a raven's wing
Or the lustrous stars, twinkling o'er
The darkling land

No longer did I tremble with trepidation;
This one no longer sits in isolation
The morrow does not elude me;
It shall always rise up to greet me.
